Good to know before booking

👕

Shoulders and knees must be covered

The Cathedral is an active place of worship and applies a dress code at the door: no bare shoulders, no shorts or skirts above the knee, and hats off inside. It is enforced, and there is no way around it once you are there — so plan what you wear before you leave. A light scarf in your bag is enough in summer.

🪪

An ID or passport is needed for every participant

Cathedral and Giralda tickets are nominative: each one carries the name of a single visitor, and the monument can ask for matching identification at the entrance. Have the document numbers to hand before you start the booking — you will need one per person, children included. How nominative tickets work.

🕘

Arrive 15 minutes before your entry time

Your entry is tied to a specific time slot set by the monument, and the group goes in together. Arriving a little early means a relaxed start instead of a rushed one.

Climbing the Giralda: what it actually involves

There are no stairs for most of the way up — the tower was built with 34 gentle ramps so that a rider on horseback could reach the top. The last stretch to the bell chamber, however, is a flight of steps, and there is no lift. We do not recommend the climb to anyone with reduced mobility, and it is not wheelchair accessible. You are very welcome on the tour either way: if you prefer not to go up, you wait inside the Cathedral while the group climbs, and we carry on together afterwards. Comfortable shoes make the ascent much easier, and the tower gets warm in summer.

You can stay inside until the monument closes

The guided visit lasts around 1 hour 30 minutes, including the climb up the Giralda, but your ticket does not expire with it. Stay on for as long as you like, right up to closing time: go back to whatever you liked most, take your time over the many chapels and treasures, or rest in the shade of the Patio de los Naranjos, with the Giralda rising above you.

Your tour runs, whatever the group size

We never cancel a departure for lack of participants. Once your booking is confirmed, the visit goes ahead on the date and time you chose — even if you end up being the only ones.

Where is the meeting point?

The meeting point is at the main entrance of the Archivo de Indias (Monument located between the Alcázar and the Cathedral). The Archivo de Indias has a single interior access door, on the side facing the Avenida de la Constitución, next to the Jardines de la Lonja. We have attached a map so you can see exactly where you are.

Frequently asked questions

Are Cathedral and Giralda tickets included in the tour?

Yes. One booking covers your official entry to Seville Cathedral, access to the Giralda bell tower and the guided visit with a confirmed entry time. There is nothing to buy separately and no second queue.

Is there a dress code for Seville Cathedral?

Yes, and it is applied at the door. Shoulders must be covered, shorts and skirts must reach the knee, and hats come off inside. It applies to everyone, including children, because the Cathedral is an active place of worship. A light scarf or a shirt in your bag is enough in summer — there is no way to solve it once you are at the entrance.

How hard is the climb up the Giralda?

Easier than most people expect. The tower was designed so that a rider could reach the top on horseback, so instead of a staircase there are 34 wide, gently sloping ramps. Only the final stretch into the bell chamber is a flight of steps. Most visitors in normal health manage it without difficulty; take it slowly, wear comfortable shoes, and expect it to be warm in summer.

Can I join the tour if I cannot climb the Giralda?

Yes, and you are very welcome. There is no lift, so the tower is not wheelchair accessible and we do not recommend the climb to anyone with reduced mobility or a heart condition. If you prefer not to go up, you wait inside the Cathedral while the rest of the group climbs, and the visit continues together afterwards. Tell us when you book and the guide will know.

Is the Royal Alcázar included in this tour?

No. This tour covers the Cathedral and the Giralda. If you want to see the Royal Alcázar as well, our complete tour includes all three monuments in a single booking, with one guide and one entry time. It is also the better option when Alcázar slots for your dates are already gone, since the Cathedral rarely closes as far ahead.

How long does the tour last, and can I stay inside afterwards?

The guided visit lasts around 1 hour and 30 minutes, including the climb up the Giralda, and your ticket does not expire when the guide finishes. You are free to stay inside until the monument closes: go back to whatever you liked most, take your time over the tomb of Columbus, the many chapels and the treasury, or simply rest in the shade of the Patio de los Naranjos, the orange-tree courtyard, with the Giralda rising above you.

Do I need to bring my passport or ID?

Yes, for every person on the booking. Cathedral tickets are nominative: each one carries a single visitor’s name and staff can ask for matching identification at the entrance. Children need their own named ticket too, so have their document numbers ready before you start the booking. A photo on your phone is normally accepted.

Where do we meet?

At the main entrance of the Archivo de Indias, on Avenida de la Constitución, between the Cathedral and the Alcázar. Our guide or a member of staff waits there before the start time and takes the group in from there.

What happens if I arrive late?

Entry is tied to a specific time slot set by the monument, so the group cannot wait. If you are running late, contact us as soon as you can and we will do whatever is possible, but we cannot guarantee entry once the slot has passed.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel up to 7 days before the tour and you get 100% back. Up to 24 hours before, 70%. After that we cannot refund, because the monument tickets have already been issued in your name and cannot be resold.
